Survival Guide

Fact: Gisborne is a long fricken way from everywhere!! A good 6-7 hrs from Auckland and 8 hrs from Wellys. Leave early so that you have plenty of time to get here with some light still available for checking in and putting up your tent. It's not so easy putting up a tent in the dark, trust us. Check out www.wises.co.nz to make sure you know the way before you leave.

Check in opens at 12pm on the 27th and closes at Midnight each night so you must get here before that, other wise check in re-opens at 8am. Spending a night in the car after a 7hour drive wont be much fun!!

Check that your car is in sweet working order and you have a decent spare tire. There are some spots on your way to Gissy that you really don't wanna break down in as they are in the middle of nowhere and have no cell phone coverage.

Think really hard about what you need and don't need to bring. Don't bring anything that is too valuable. BW takes no responsibility for any belongings that are lost or stolen. BW will have a secure area this year however where you may leave some valuables.
