Shapeshifter
When Nick Robinson (bass/synths/MPC), Sam Trevethick (guitar/synths/sampler), Devin Abrams (sax/keys/synths) and Johny Hooves (drums), fuse their talents as one band Shapeshifter, they drive a sound as unrelenting as a force of nature. Synthesizing barreling drum'n'bass, cavernous dub soundscapes and pounding hard rock their album The System is a Vampire is a true document of their heavy soul designed to motivate dance floors, arenas and festival fields. The album debuted at number 1 in the New Zealand album charts and became their third LP to clock platinum sales. With skills honed over four albums and countless sold-out shows, Shapeshifter have consolidated their awesome powers on brand new long player, creating a future-proofed sound that is both unrelenting and uplifting. For over a decade, the musicians in Shapeshifter have made their own lane for their heavy soul, working outside the system to create uncompromising and unstoppable electronic rhythms, wholly on their terms.
Katchafire
Katchafire is New Zealand's Premier Reggae Band. Since 2002 they have recorded four full length albums (Revival 2003, Slow Burning 2005, Say What You're Thinking 2007, On The Road Again 2010, a dub remix album and a Live CD). With years of touring under their belt, the band is constantly in huge demand in New Zealand, Hawaii, Australia and around the world. Katchafire are one of the hardest working bands in New Zealand. As well as opening shows for the likes of Damien Marley, Michael Franti and Spearhead, they have played gigs all across the country (three in one day on Waitangi Day 2004, in Hamilton, Manukau and Nelson!), undertaken four tours of Australia, and in November 2004, they headlined a stadium-filling show in Fiji. In March 2005 all their dreams came true when they supported the original Wailers in Auckland. 2006 was their busiest year yet: two tours of Hawaii plus their debut tours of England, Ireland and the west coast of America.
Borgore
Asaf borger aka Borgore, has unquestionably become a household name for those who appreciate Dubstep. Music has always been the biggest aspect of his life. He started producing Dubstep in 2007, and with very little recognition from the then niche Dubstep audience, Borgore quickly established himself with his unique sound and style. Borgore quickly developed unique characteristics to his performance, whether crowd surfing, or mosh pitting with the ravers, Borgore brought over his years of experience in a band to the Dubstep stage. With over 6 millions views on Youtube Borgore has risen to be one of Dance musics biggest stars.
I Am Giant
I Am Giant is a London based band consisting of New Zealanders Shelton Woolright, Paul Matthews, Aja Timu and Brit Ed Martin. Described as ‘edgy rock with groove and melody', vocalist Ed Martin delivers powerful, soul influenced hooks and epic choruses. For the last couple of years I Am Giant have successfully been winning fans around the globe! They became the Quiksilver Ambassadors for Europe and their first single ‘City Limits' has been a massive hit on rock radio in New Zealand. In the UK, the single has been spot played on the Rock Show on XFM and they are booked in for live session in May. In Asia the video has been added to MTV and Channel V. Their second single ‘Neon Sunrise' was a Top 20 hit in NZ, won Best Local Rock Song on The Rock, and the video features 9 times world surf legend, USA surfer Kelly Slater. I Am Giant have been recording their debut album ‘The Horrifying Truth' in Australia with acclaimed producer Forrester Savell, it will be released in August.
Mighty Fools (NL)
Mightyfools, the illustrious Dutch producers Andy Samin and Jelle Keizer is an earsplitting slap in the face of high quality and extremely energetic music. Their forces create a mash up of party sounds inspired by house, disco, electro and a dose of rock 'n roll, all led by their notorious bass lines. Creating instant dance floor hits and terrifyingly thriving remixes of top class artists like Crookers and Tommie Sunshine they are recognized by making raging parties as a DJ-duo, and have become a worldwide phenomenon. Amongst their supporters are quite a few of the big shots: Laidback Luke, Diplo, Don Diablo, Switch, Hardwell, Fedde Le Grand, Fake Blood and all of their dancing secretaries.
MC TIKI (Tiki Taane) & Dick 'Magik' Johnson
Tiki Taane is one of New Zealand's most popular and award-winning artists, renowned as much for his powerful live performances as he is for his anthems. He left Salmonella Dub in 2007 to pursue a solo career, and his debut album, "Past, Present, Future" has gone two-times platinum, with the song "Always On My Mind" becoming the most successful single of all time in New Zealand.Tiki is a multi-platinum award winning artist and considered a pioneer in the New Zealand music scene with a career spanning nearly 15 years.
DJ/Producer Dick 'Magik' Johnson's life has been a journey in sound. Since making the move from England to New Zealand in the early 2000's, Magik has made himself at home down under, although his heavy production output means DJs around the world are never short of a piece of Magik to throw in their sets.
P-Money
P-Money is New Zealand's most renowned Producer/DJs. His incredible talents in the studio and behind the decks have made him not only a household name in NZ, but an artist to watch internationally.P-Money earnt his stripes via the DJ Battle/ Turntablist scene in the early 2000's (3 x NZ Champion and 3rd place at the DMC World Champs '01) then moved on to producing mega-hits for New Zealand rap stars (Scribe "Not Many", "Stand Up", "Stop The Music" & Deceptikonz "Stop, Drop n Roll"), collaborating with international heavyweights (Akon "Keep On Calling", Skillz, Sauce Money, Roc Raida, Bobby Creek and Joell Ortiz) and releasing his own platinum and double platinum albums ('Big Things' and 'Magic City').
Bulletproof
For over a decade, the name "Bulletproof" has stood for nothing less than forward thinking future bass music. In the early 90's, his relentless passion and devotion to Drum & Bass established Jay as one of the nations pioneering D&B DJ's and promoters. His entrance into production in 99" alongside former production partner Josh, lead to Bulletproof becoming Australasia's first international Drum & Bass export. Signing their tracks to one of the leading labels of the time helped to spawn the rise of the local future bass music production scene, whist also being sighted by names like Concord Dawn, The Upbeats, State Of Mind as THE pioneer of NZ D&B production.
Homebrew
Homebrew is a smooth, refreshing ale that will make u feel golden and moist inside just like you did before big kids pants. It's full flavour is best accompanied by fresh herb lightly toasted between 2 red hot knives and most appreciated by substance abusers, social rejects. Last year they tickled the balls of the mainstream when they were nominated for the 2010 New Zealand Music Awards Critics Choice Prize.
PNC
PNC (aka Sam Hansen) is one of today's most talked about artist in Aotearoa Hip-hop. His fluid flow has drawn comparisons to legends like Jay-Z and Notorious BIG. However, don't get it twisted, his brand of Hip-hop is distinctly Aotearoa. Hailing from Palmerston North, PNC first gained underground notoriety with his unofficial single 'Day In The Life' that topped the Bfm charts. He followed that with appearances on various tracks from P-Money's Magic City album. His refreshing style caught the attention of NZ Music's elite and earned him a contract with Dirty Records.
Kids in Space
Kids in Space started as an entirely studio-based creation but having toured the past year playing shows alongside the likes of Nas, B.o.D. Damian Marley, Chiddy Bang and Kora this process has challenged and changed them, and they now play with live drums and bass, giving a far more expansive and arena-ready sound. Unconventional in its makeup and sound the two MCs alongside a producer/singer, playing electronic pop and hip hop their new album Ghost is unlike anything to come out of New Zealand, very international in its sonic architecture and outlook. The album reflects these changes, with a fuller, more weighty sound than that found on their debut EP, and shows the development of Whiz Kidd into one of the best pop producers in the world. Ashley Hughes and Mat Neshat have been spurred by his elastic, hooky work into becoming top-flight songwriters, to go alongside their already formidable MCing.
Tim Phin
For over a decade, Our:House founder Tim Phin has delivered some of New Zealand's most memorable and popular dance parties. As the head honcho of both Our:House and New Zealand's foremost fashion / lifestyle publication Remix Magazine - Tim constantly has his finger on the pulse of what's hot! Always ambitious, Tim has been involved in a number of production projects, including remixing the track ‘Supernatural' (2007) for rising indie stars Midnight Youth. He has also mixed seven compilation CD's under his REMIX and Our House brand. Through the Our:House brand, Tim has brought New Zealand audiences some of the biggest dance acts in the world, including Deadmau5, Skrillex, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Caspa, Fedde le Grand, Kaskade plus dozens more, and these huge acts represent what you can expect from a Tim Phin set - BIG dance floor tunes!
Jason Howson
While watching drum and bass DJ Grooverider blending songs together on tour in the early 1990s Jason Howson knew he wanted to become a DJ and in 2009 &2010 Jason took concurrent titles at the NZ Nite:life awards for "Best Dubstep DJ". Jason Howson has spent 10 years plus on radio hosting his weekly radio show 'Silk Cuts In Session' on George FM with co-host Sean Lyons. This is where the pair test sub bass monsters on a devoted audience, with pod cast statistics topping 30,000 plays. The show represents only the best music from the worlds of, Dubstep, Grime, Bassmusic, Garage, and 2 Step. Howson has created a legacy of residencies, club nights and releases which helped pioneer 2 step, UK Garage & Grime In New Zealand. More recently he has become a leading proponent in the burgeoning Dubstep scene. Howson's DJ calendar consists of slots at local & national club nights, including his own Residency at Fuzen Wheel, a monthly dubstep event in its 3rd Year. Additionally he has played support slots for international artists, the most notable include Dizzy Rascal, Pendulum, Benga, Caspa, Rusko, Joker, Distance & Mala.
Tim Richards
Award winning DJ/Producer Tim Richards has been immersed in dance music for over the past decade and has been working as a fulltime DJ/Producer for over three years now. Tim has forged his name as a top billing DJ at major nationwide events, as well as being voted 'Best Producer' in 2007 and Best Progressive DJ in 2009 at the Nite:Life awards.
Tim's growing production schedule has begun to pay off with his tracks showing up in the playlist's of some of the most respected tastemakers in music today. His tracks and remixes have been played by the likes of Funk D'Void, Sasha, Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Nic Fanciulli, Stephan Bodzin, Steve Lawler, King Unique, Tony Humphries as well as featuring on Pete Tong's Essential Mix show. Tim's music leans towards the futuristic side of house and tech-house - a sound he was drawn early on with the likes of Massive Attack, Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, Peace Division, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Brian Eno, Mark Farina, Portishead, Metro Area, H:foundation, Derrick Carter, Moodymann and more. These artists helped inspire and pave the way for his long held passion for producing music and DJing.
