The name High Contrast needs no introduction anymore; though when a young Lincoln Barrett signed on the dotted line back in 2000 he was a complete unknown. Signed on the strength of his mini-disc demos, the Welsh wonder has smashed his way through the d+b scene in no time at all.

Tahuna Breaks
Since their beginnings in January 2005, Tahuna Breaks have
always been a band built upon a simple philosophy- the love
of music. With an open mind and an adventurous spirit,
unafraid to mix genres and musical stylings- their 'anything
goes' and sometimes unconventional approach is governed
only by two criteria: passion and energy. The lifeblood of
this band is live performance and it is from countless live
gigs and tours that they have crafted their own brand of
roots reggae, funk, soul and good old fashioned rock and
roll. Put simply this is a band that thrives on working hard
and winning audiences over.

Six60
From their bleak student flat at 660 Castle Street Dunedin comes a unique sound that is the freshest twist on the Kiwi love of fusion of roots, reggae, hip hop, dubstep and drum’n’bass. With a catch cry of “live and massive” that has resonated around the country SIX60 are the most in-demand new band in New Zealand and selling out shows on the strength of word of mouth and a huge internet fanbase that regularly create the incredible experience of gigs where a thousand voices enthusiastically sing every word of the band’s (then myspace-only!) songs. SIX60 have just inked a deal with Universal Music and saw their first single ‘Rise Up 2.0’ debut at No.5 in the NZ Charts in September.
David Dallas
David Dallas is the Artist Formerly Known As. Formally known as Con Psy. Formally known as one-half of the award-winning local hip hop group Frontline. Formally known as the next to blow.
Bring these pronouncements forward to the present tense and David Dallas is now known as the most gifted wordsmith New Zealand hip hop has birthed. And the most valued lyricist on Dirty Records' roster is armed with a soon-to-drop solo debut simply titled Something Awesome, an album again set to have other rappers reassess their own rap blueprints.
Early in the piece, label mate P-Money was quick to spot the prodigious talents of the new kid comin' up, recognition that led to Dave's searing verse on 'Not Many - The Remix'. The song heralded the arrival of an untapped rap talent that New Zealand Hip Hop was quick to make room for, elbow room the newcomer lost no time working with.

Bang Bang Eche
Most teenagers in an unsigned band never get to do a fraction of what Bang Bang Eche has done with just an EP and combustible live show. Coming from a town so remote that tours of Antarctica leave from it, these Kiwi teens have gladly spent most of their career away from home. This highly driven band has circumnavigated the world twice in the last year, supporting their self-titled, self-released, debut EP. Bang Bang Eche's unrelenting ambition is most evident in a live show that has decimated parties in underground bunkers, warehouses and outdoor festivals around the globe.
Frontman Zach Doney is the catalyst for their brilliant live show, launching his small body over obstacles & crowds. Behind the rapid delivery and havoc-wrecking gesticulation of the lead vocalist is the group mastermind; bassist T'Nealle Worsley. A living lesson in efficiency, an acclaimed "blogguer" & subtle fashionista, T'Nealle's artistic genius has lead the NZ press to dub her "the nation's answer to Karen O." Guitarist Charlie Ryder has the gifted grace of a five-fingered hummingbird (often swapping instruments mid-song) and the constant four-over-four that fuels the band is driven by former radio personality James Sullivan, who randomly finds himself disrobed halfway through a set yet never remembers how it happened.
As busy as they've been, these young New Zealanders have still found the time to complete their second release, the four-song Sonic Death Cuntttt EP. Written on tour between '08 & '09, it transforms the brutality of the quartet's live show into audio goodness. Lead song "Fist Full Of Dollars" was immediately hailed Song Of The Day by NME.com & Seattle's legendary KEXP and follows the self-titled EP's success, which had "4 To The Floor" debut at No. 1 on the US commercial alternative specialty show chart and break the Top 50 on CMJ's college radio chart. Closer to home, the band are consistently championed by Australia's Triple J and have enjoyed several No. 1 songs on New Zealand radio.

Batucada Sound Machine
Loosely translated, Batucada means percussive samba jam. Throw in two guitars, bass, keyboard, a slick horn section and one of the Pacific's finest MCs, and you have Batucada Sound Machine. The 10 piece group has evolved from the impromptu "batucada" sessions back in 2003 to become one of NZ's most sought after acts. Their tasty concoction of Brazilian, Cuban and afro-beat rhythms is given a hip hop front courtesy of MC Hazaduz (Che Fu & the Krates) . This kingpin of the rising local hip hop scene lays solid rhymes over the massive samba-reggae percussion while the talented band adds rich pacific soul, reggae and funk flavours.
